It looks like you just missed their Speciality event, which would have been a great opportunity to meet the breeders and see their dogs, but more shows will pop up.

Any dog can obtain some form of health issue at some point in their lives. Health can never be 100% guaranteed as there are some things that are not genetic linked illnesses.
Aside from that, I’m glad you’ve come to the realization how crappy BYBs and Puppy Mills are.
Try checking the AKC website for their list of breeders. Typically those listed there tend to be the "best" and most reliable.
